New in 2026.2: Zalo Personal works with native JavaScript integration. No separate CLI binaries needed.

OpenClaw supports Zalo and Zalo Personal—popular messaging apps in Vietnam and with Vietnamese diaspora. Connect your assistant to Zalo for DMs and group chats. Setup follows the channel onboarding flow.

1. Run openclaw onboard or use the Setup Wizard
2. Select Zalo or Zalo Personal when adding a channel
3. Complete pairing and allowlist if needed
4. Verify in Configuration

Zalo DMs are untrusted input. Use pairing and allowlists so strangers cannot drive tools on your Gateway. For production bots, run openclaw security audit --deep after setup.

Group chats multiply untrusted senders. Restrict triggers with allowlists and pairing before enabling tools that touch files or shell. Zalo Personal (2026.2+) reduces setup friction but does not change the security model—treat every inbound message as prompt injection.

Zalo OA/business accounts may use different APIs than Zalo Personal (2026.2+ native JS). Pick the channel type that matches your account in onboard—mixing types causes “connected but no messages.”
